Polarimetric Passive Remote Sensing

چکیده
We seek to understand and predict the evolution of the brightness temperature (four Stokes parameters) of wind driven foam-covered ocean surfaces. The correlation of polarimetric variation is studied as function of the medium state, modeled as a rough surface (ocean) overlayed by a random medium (foam). Many independent results are obtain by using a wide variety of electromagnetic techniques, such as radiative transfer, integral equation, finite-difference time-domain, etc. Depending on the technique chosen, the foam cover age is modeled as either a dense medium composed of densely packed scatterers, a dielectric layer of non-uniform thickness or a succession of volumetric scatterers.

Microwave Remote Sensing in Soil Quality Assessment
Information of spatial and temporal variations of soil quality (soil properties) is required for various purposes of sustainable agriculture development and management. Traditionally, soil quality characterization is done by in situ point soil sampling and subsequent laboratory analysis. Such methodology has limitation for assessing the spatial variability of soil quality. Various researchers i...
متن کاملFARADAY ROTATION CORRECTION FOR PASSIVE MICROWAVE REMOTE SENSING FROM SPACE Faraday Rotation Correction for Passive Microwave Remote Sensing from Space
Faraday rotation (FR) is one of the main error sources for passive microwave remote sensing from space especially in frequencies less than or equal to 10.7 GHz. In this paper, Faraday rotation correction for the vertical brightness temperature at L band and the third Stokes parameter brightness temperature at 10.7 GHz are discussed. Two approaches are studied to remove the influence of FR: corr...

Land cover is defined as the physical material of the surface of the earth, including different vegetation covers, bare soil, water surface, various urban areas, etc. Land cover and its changes are very important and influential on the Earth and life of living organisms, especially human beings. Land cover change monitoring is important for protecting the ecosystem, forests, farmland, open spac...
متن کاملImage Segmentation from Multi-look Passive Polarimetric Imagery (Invited Paper)
A passive imaging polarimeter records the polarization state of light reflected by an object that is illuminated with an unpolarized and usually uncontrolled source. Passive polarimetric imagery has shown to be useful in many remote sensing applications including shape extraction, material classification and target detection/recognition. In this paper, we present an image segmentation algorithm...
